SAP QM Inspection Results Recording Worksheet

Not every shop floor has terminals at the gauge. This worksheet is a record sheet that mirrors the structure of SAP results recording: lot, characteristic, limits and measured value, with the deviation and in-tolerance check done for you.

Used tolerance band shows how far a result is from target as a share of half the tolerance range: 100 percent means it sits on a limit. Lot numbers and units are examples. This worksheet is for recording and review; official results are posted in SAP.

Optional conversation about moving measured values from CMM or gauge exports into SAP results recording.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use it

Add one row per characteristic measurement. Enter target, lower and upper limit from the inspection plan, then the measured value. The deviation, in-tolerance flag and used tolerance band calculate automatically. Export to Excel and key the values into QE51N or upload them through your result interface. The summary shows the share of results in tolerance and how many are out.

  • Copy limits from the inspection plan, not from memory
  • One row per characteristic per sample unit
  • Review rows near 100 percent used band before the usage decision
  • Keep the sheet with the lot record for traceability

How the checks work

Deviation is measured value minus target. A result is in tolerance when it is greater than or equal to the lower limit and less than or equal to the upper limit. Used tolerance band is the absolute deviation divided by half the tolerance range, as a percentage. For a one-sided characteristic with no real target, set the target to the midpoint or to the nominal and read the band figure with care.

Reading the result

In the example the pressure hold of 262 bar is above the 260 bar upper limit and is flagged as 0, so the lot would be rejected for that characteristic. A result at 90 percent of the band is in tolerance but gives a warning that the process is drifting. Use the share in tolerance to compare lots, but remember it counts characteristics and not parts.

Common mistakes

Entering results in a different unit from the inspection plan. Rounding the measurement before entry. Recording only the worst of several sample units when the plan needs each unit. Treating this record as official without posting it in the system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this replace QE51N?

No. It is a working record you can use at the gauge or for audits. The official results and the usage decision are posted in SAP QM, where they link to the inspection lot and batch.

Can it handle qualitative characteristics?

The calculations are for quantitative values. For qualitative results such as pass or fail, use the characteristic column and record 1 or 0 in the measured value with the limits set to 1 and 1.

What does used tolerance band mean?

It shows the distance from target as a share of half the tolerance range. Zero means exactly on target and 100 means exactly on a limit. Values above 100 are out of tolerance.

Can I add more columns?

You can add and delete rows. The column set is fixed in this version, so add extra detail such as operator or gauge ID in the characteristic text.
