APQP Team Feasibility Commitment Template

In APQP, the team feasibility commitment records whether the supplier can make the product as specified, at the stated volume, in time. It is a statement signed by a cross-functional team, not a single person. This template gives a structure for the considerations and a conclusion you can export.

APQP Team Feasibility Commitment Template

Team Feasibility Commitment

Supplier: Acme Precision Components Ltd Customer: Example Automotive Tier 1 Part: HSG-48213 Pump housing Annual volume: 240,000 pieces per year Planned SOP: 2027-03-01 Date: 2026-10-20

Feasibility considerations

ConsiderationYes / noComment
Product can be manufactured to tolerances on the drawing
Product can be manufactured without special packaging or handling
Capacity exists for the stated volume
Gaging and test equipment is available or can be bought in time
Capability expected to meet customer requirement on special characteristics
Tooling and fixtures can be delivered in time
Skills and training are in place
Sub-suppliers can meet quality and delivery

Conclusion

Team conclusion: Feasible with changes

Concerns and required changes

1. Bore tolerance 0.021 mm needs air gaging and a finish pass. 2. Cleanliness spec of 2.0 mg needs a validated wash process. 3. Tooling lead time of 14 weeks leaves no float to SOP.

A structure for the APQP feasibility step, not a customer-mandated form. If the team has concerns, record the changes needed and resolve them with the customer before committing.

Want a capacity check against your ERP routings?

Optional review of how routing and work centre data can support feasibility analysis.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use it

Meet with engineering, quality, manufacturing, purchasing and program management after receiving the drawing and quote package. Go through the consideration table, answer yes or no with a comment, and write down concerns. If the answer to any item is no, choose the 'feasible with changes' or 'not feasible' conclusion and list the changes. Send the document with your quote or as part of program kickoff.

  • Include all functions in the review
  • Write concerns as specific, fixable items
  • Check tooling lead time against SOP
  • Confirm gage availability and capability

Why it matters

The feasibility step is where a supplier can still raise a tolerance, a cleanliness limit or a timeline issue cheaply. After tooling is cut and SOP is fixed, the same issue becomes a late change or a quality escape. IATF 16949 expects organisations to analyse manufacturing feasibility of proposed products, and this record shows the analysis took place and who agreed.

Reading the example

The example concludes feasible with changes and lists three real constraints: a tight bore tolerance that needs a finish pass and air gaging, a cleanliness limit that needs a validated wash process, and a tooling lead time with no schedule float. Each concern points to an action in the timing plan. Replace the sample text with your own.

Common mistakes

Teams often sign off without engineering or quality in the room, treat the form as a formality, or leave concerns vague. Another mistake is not tracking concerns to closure. Move each concern into the APQP action list with an owner and date, and review them at gate meetings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who signs the feasibility commitment?

Members of the cross-functional team: typically engineering, quality, manufacturing, purchasing and program management, with general management accountable. Signatures show the team agreed with the conclusion.

What if the part is not feasible as specified?

State that clearly, list the changes needed such as tolerance, material or process, and discuss with the customer before committing. Signing a feasible statement you do not believe leads to problems later in PPAP.

When in APQP is this done?

It is part of the planning phase, after the customer inputs are reviewed and before final commitment. It also supports the quote and the timing plan.

Can I export the document?

Yes. Export to PDF or Word, add attachments such as capacity analysis, and collect signatures.

If feasibility depends on capacity and routing data in your ERP, Netray can help summarise the load by work centre read-only, on your own infrastructure.
