Edit the steps to match your process. Test in a copy of production-like data, not an empty company. Record every defect in the issue log with the script ID.

UAT scenario pack

Ask for a starter set of manufacturing UAT scenarios tailored to your processes.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use the script

Copy the template once per scenario and rename the script ID. Fill in prerequisites so the tester does not discover missing master data mid-test. Run each step, write what actually happened, and mark pass or fail. Two people should review failed steps: the tester and the consultant who configured the area.

Choosing scenarios

Test end-to-end flows that cross modules, since defects usually sit at the joints. For a manufacturer on Business One, typical flows are sales order to production to delivery to invoice, purchase request to goods receipt to payable, inventory transfer and counting, and month-end revaluation. Add scenarios for exceptions such as a returned delivery, a short receipt, a production order closed with a variance.

  • Quote to cash
  • Procure to pay
  • Make to order and make to stock
  • Stock transfer and counting
  • Period close tasks

Reading the results

Passed means every step matched the expected result. Passed with issues means the flow completes but a non-blocking defect is logged. Failed blocks sign-off. Set an exit rule in advance, for example no open failures in finance or inventory scenarios and no more than an agreed number of cosmetic issues elsewhere.

Common mistakes

Letting consultants run the tests, which tests the consultant and not the process. Testing with perfect data only. Not retesting after a fix. Treat each fix as a new version of the system and rerun the affected scripts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should execute the UAT scripts?

The people who will use the system daily, with a consultant observing. The process owner signs the result. Consultants executing the script hides usability problems and gaps in training.

How many scripts do we need?

Enough to cover each business process and its main exceptions, commonly twenty to sixty for a small manufacturer. Quality of coverage matters more than count, so prioritise cross-module flows.

Should UAT use real data?

Use a copy of migrated data where possible, because it exposes bad master data. Make sure test documents cannot reach real customers or suppliers, for example by disabling outbound email.

What happens to failed scripts?

Log a defect, fix it, and rerun the whole script, not just the failed step. A fix in one place can break an earlier step, particularly around costing and postings.
