SAP Work Center Weekly Load Worksheet
Planners often rebuild a weekly capacity picture in Excel from CM01 exports. This worksheet applies the SAP available capacity formula and flags work centers that are overloaded or idle.
| Work center | Individual capacities | Operating hours per day | Working days in week | Utilization rate (%) | Available capacity (h) | Load from orders (h) | Load percent | Free hours | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
68 | 105.9% | -4 | |||||||
72 | 112.5% | -9 | |||||||
152 | 92.1% | 12 | |||||||
32 | 68.8% | 10 |
Available capacity in SAP is operating time times number of individual capacities times utilization rate. Loads above 100 percent mean overload that needs leveling, overtime or rerouting. Use CM01 or CM21 to see the real load by period.

How to use the sheet
Enter each work center with its individual capacities, operating hours per day, working days and utilization rate from the work center capacity data. Paste weekly load hours from your capacity evaluation. The sheet returns available hours, load percent and free hours. Use it for the weekly production meeting and export it for the record.
The formula behind it
SAP calculates available capacity as operating time multiplied by the capacity utilization rate and the number of individual capacities. Load comes from the operations of planned and production orders using the standard values in the routing. Load percent is load divided by available capacity. Above about 100 percent you have more work than time, assuming the standard values are right.
- Available = individual capacities x hours x days x rate
- Load percent = load / available
- Free hours show where to pull work in
Common mistakes
Using the wrong utilization rate gives false comfort. Loading planned orders that will never be converted distorts the picture. Ignoring breaks and maintenance windows overstates availability. Check routing times against actual confirmations regularly.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SAP transaction for capacity load?
CM01 shows the work center load, CM02 the capacity load per work center, and CM21 the capacity evaluation of work center. Names and layouts vary by release, so use whichever your team already trusts.
What utilization rate should I use?
Use the rate that reflects normal efficiency and downtime, often between 80 and 95 percent. It should come from actual data rather than a guess.
What does overload mean?
It means scheduled operations require more hours than available in the period. Fix it by leveling, adding shifts, outsourcing or moving dates.
Does this do finite scheduling?
No. It is a load check. Finite scheduling needs APS or planning board tools.
Netray can pull live load and availability from SAP into a view that updates daily, without exporting by hand.
