Infor LN Cycle Count Workload Calculator

A cycle counting program in Infor LN Warehousing only works if the workload fits the people you have. This calculator converts ABC class sizes and frequencies into daily counts and headcount, with a PDF or Excel export for the business case.

How to use it

Count how many items or locations fall into each ABC class, set how often each class is counted, and enter the average time for a count including recounts. The result shows counts per day, annual hours and the equivalent number of full time counters. If the number is more than you can staff, reduce the C frequency first or count by location rather than by item.

Choosing frequencies

A common pattern is monthly for A, quarterly for B and annual for C, but frequency should follow value, movement and error history, not just class. Items with repeated adjustments deserve more frequent counts regardless of class. The share of effort on A items tells you whether your program is focused where the value is.

Common mistakes

Planners forget travel time and recounts, so the real minutes per count is higher than a quick check suggests. Another is counting during peak picking hours, which raises errors. Finally, counting without investigating root causes only measures the problem: track adjustments by reason code and fix process gaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many counts per day is reasonable?

It depends on item density and picking activity. For small parts a counter might do 80 to 120 counts in a productive day, for bulky items far fewer. Measure your own rate on a pilot week before committing.

Does it replace a year end count?

Often a well run program lets you avoid a full physical count if auditors accept it, but that is an audit and policy decision for your finance team and auditors.

Should counts be by item or by location?

Location based counting is easier to schedule and makes empty location checks possible. Item based counting is better when an item is spread across many locations. Choose one primary method and use the other for exceptions.

What ABC cut offs should I use?

Many companies use about 80 percent of annual consumption value for A, the next 15 percent for B and the remainder for C. Adjust for criticality, shelf life and theft risk.
