Infor LN Landed Cost Allocation Worksheet

Landed cost spreads freight, duty and other import charges over what you buy, so your inventory value and margins reflect reality. In Infor LN the Landed Costs functionality does this at scale, but buyers need a quick check before a deal. This worksheet does it line by line and exports to Excel.

Freight is allocated by weight and duty by value in this worksheet. Rates shown are examples only. Confirm duty rates for your tariff classification and the allocation basis your finance team uses.

Landed cost automation

An optional review of automating landed cost checks from LN receipts.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use it

Add one row per item with quantity, unit price, total weight, duty rate and the freight rate per kilogram. The sheet computes goods value, duty, freight, landed cost and landed cost per unit. The totals and uplift line show how much the import costs add to the goods value. Change the rows to test alternative suppliers or shipping modes.

Allocation basis

Charges can be allocated by value, weight, volume or quantity, and the choice changes landed cost per item. Duty is naturally a function of value in most tariffs, and freight usually follows weight or volume. Heavy and cheap items absorb more freight per dollar than light and expensive ones, which is why a flat percentage markup misleads.

Common mistakes

Leaving out brokerage, insurance, port fees and inland haulage, which can add several percent. Using a duty rate from an old tariff or the wrong classification. Mixing currencies without applying the exchange rate at the right date. And updating standard cost only once a year when freight rates move monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is landed cost?

The total cost to bring an item to your door: purchase price plus freight, insurance, duty, brokerage and other charges directly tied to the shipment. It is the basis for inventory valuation and a true margin.

Should I allocate by weight or value?

Use the basis that matches how the charge arises. Freight usually by weight or volume, duty and insurance by value. Be consistent and document the rule so costs are comparable over time.

Is the sample duty rate correct for my goods?

No. Sample rates are illustrative. Duty depends on the tariff classification, origin and any trade agreement, so confirm with your customs broker.

Can I download this?

Yes. The worksheet exports to Excel or PDF with your rows and totals, so you can attach it to a purchase approval.

If you want landed cost variances flagged automatically from your purchase receipts, we can build that against your LN data.
