Field names come from the ECC 6.0 data dictionary. Confirm in SE11 on your system, especially if you run industry add-ons (for example stability study fields in QPRS). Use SE16N with the key fields above to trace a lot to its samples: QALS-PRUEFLOS to QPRN-PLOS to QPRS-PN_NR to QAPP-PHYNR.

Sampling procedure vs sample-drawing procedure
SAP QM has two similarly named objects that do different jobs. The sampling procedure (QDV1, table QDSV) is statistical: it decides how many units of each characteristic are inspected and how results are valued, and it is assigned per characteristic in PLMK. The sample-drawing procedure (QPV1, tables QPRVK and QPRVP) is physical: it decides how many physical samples are drawn from the lot, in which containers, and whether drawing must be confirmed. It is assigned in the inspection plan header and copied to QALS when the lot is created.
- Sample size per characteristic: QDSV, result in QASV.
- Number of physical samples: QPRVP, result in QPRN and QPRS.
- Results per physical sample: inspection points in QAPP with PHYNR.
Worked example: tracing a lot to its samples
A goods receipt creates inspection lot 010000004711. In SE16N, QALS shows PRBNAVERF = RAW01 and PRBNAVV = 000001, the sample-drawing procedure from the plan. QPRN with PLOS = 010000004711 returns drawing number 000000001203, and QPRS with PN_NR = 000000001203 returns three physical samples with their sizes in MENGE and MEINH, storage location in ABORT and deadline in ABDAT. QAPP for the lot shows one inspection point per sample, with PHYNR filled, which is where results are recorded in QE51N.
How to use the table
Search by table name, field name or transaction. The keys column lists the fields you need for joins and the most useful attributes; the links column names the parent or child tables. Export to Excel when you are writing a functional spec or an ABAP report so the developer has the joins in one place. When a field you need is not listed, open the table in SE11 rather than guessing: QPRS in particular carries many optional fields for stability studies and handling units.
Gotchas
QALS does not have a field called PRZIEHVERF; the lot stores the procedure in PRBNAVERF and the version in PRBNAVV, both checked against QPRVK. QPRS stores the procedure as PNVER and PNVEV. If KZQUIT is set in the procedure, results recording is blocked until the drawing is confirmed with QPR4, which is a frequent cause of lots that seem stuck. Physical samples are only created automatically when the inspection type and plan are set up for sample management.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which SAP table stores the sample-drawing procedure?
QPRVK holds the header of the sample-drawing procedure, keyed by PRZIEHVERF and VERSION, with texts in QPRVKT. The items, including sampling scheme, AQL and number of primary, pooled and reserve samples, are in QPRVP. Maintain them with QPV1, QPV2 and QPV3.
Where are physical samples stored in SAP QM?
Physical samples are in QPRS, keyed by PHYNR. Each sample references the drawing number PN_NR in QPRN, the inspection lot, material, plant and batch, the sample size in MENGE and MEINH, and the storage location and deadline. Display or change them with QPR3 and QPR2.
What is the difference between QDV1 and QPV1?
QDV1 creates a sampling procedure, which defines the statistical sample size and valuation per inspection characteristic. QPV1 creates a sample-drawing procedure, which defines how many physical samples are drawn from a lot and whether the drawing must be confirmed. A lot can use both at the same time.
How do I link an inspection lot to its physical samples?
Read QPRN where PLOS equals the lot number to get the drawing number PN_NR, then read QPRS where PN_NR matches to get each PHYNR. For results, read QAPP where PRUEFLOS equals the lot; the PHYNR field on each inspection point identifies the physical sample.
If you want quality engineers to ask SAP QM about lots, samples and results in plain English on your own servers, we can set that up over your ECC system.
