SAP PP Business Blueprint Workshop Template
Blueprint workshops produce decisions that are forgotten within weeks. A one-document record of scope, org structure and gaps keeps the PP design traceable.

Plant manager, production planner, scheduler, engineering, quality, IT.
Manufacturing mode and organizational structure
Mode: Mixed
Company code 1000, plant 1000, storage locations 0001 and 0002, MRP area plant level.
Process scope
Demand planning input, MRP run, planned order conversion, order release, goods issue, confirmation, goods receipt, order settlement.

| Routings | |||
| Production versions |
Gaps and risks
Finite scheduling not in current scope. Subcontracting approach to be agreed with purchasing.
Decisions and sign-off
A workshop record, not a full blueprint. Pair it with your SAP Activate or ASAP deliverables and fit-to-standard results.
Pre-project data review
Optional: we can profile your legacy BOM and routing data before design.
Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.
How to run the workshop
Send the form ahead, ask the process owner to fill the manufacturing mode, org structure and process fields, then use the workshop to correct and complete. Capture gaps as they arise, not afterward. Export the result and circulate within a day.
What PP design needs to settle
Decide the strategy for each product family, such as planning with or without final assembly, and which materials are produced to stock versus to order. Decide which production order type and confirmation approach suits each plant. Agree the master data owners and how routings and BOMs are loaded. These choices drive MRP behavior and costing later.
- Planning strategy per product family
- Order types and confirmation profile
- Master data ownership
- Interfaces to quality, procurement and MES
Common mistakes
Skipping master data quality is the commonest. Another is designing for the ideal process, then finding shop floor practice differs. Include a planner or scheduler who actually runs the process in the room.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does S/4HANA change PP design?
It keeps the core PP concepts but adds options such as MRP Live and Advanced MRP, and simplifications in some areas. Check the current simplification list for your target release when you scope.
How long is a PP workshop?
Typically a few hours per topic, such as MRP, shop floor execution and costing. Split large scopes into several sessions rather than one long day.
Who should own the output?
The business process owner signs off decisions and the PP lead keeps the document under project change control.
Is this a replacement for a blueprint?
No. It is the record of a workshop. Combine the outputs into the formal blueprint or design documents your methodology requires.
Netray can help analyze your existing ERP data to find master data problems before blueprint workshops start.
