SAP PP Tables List with Key Fields (AFKO, AFPO, RESB, STPO, PLPO)

When you build a custom production report, an extract for a data warehouse or an AI assistant, you need to know which SAP tables hold the order, BOM and routing data and how to join them. This list gives you the standard PP tables with their key fields.

Table names and key fields reflect the standard ABAP Dictionary. In S/4HANA some tables are still present but receive data through compatibility views, and field lengths (for example MATNR) are longer than in ECC. Confirm in SE11 on your own system.

How to use the table list

Search for a table name or a word such as 'header' or 'operation'. Use the Key fields column to build joins. For example, the order header AFKO joins to the order master AUFK on AUFNR, and to the item AFPO on AUFNR. Operations link through AUFPL, the routing number carried on the order header, which is the bridge to AFVC and AFVV. Export the list to share with report developers.

Join patterns worth remembering

A production order with its components comes from AFKO or AUFK, then RESB using the reservation number RSNUM found on AFKO. The BOM for a material is a chain: MAST gives STLNR and STLAL, then STKO for the header and STPO for items. The routing for a material is MAPL then PLKO then PLPO through PLNTY, PLNNR and PLNAL. Work center data from CRHD is keyed on OBJTY and OBJID, so operations reference it through ARBID.

  • Order status is on JEST using AUFK-OBJNR; filter INACT to blank for the active status.
  • TJ02T translates the internal status code, for example I0045, into text.
  • AFRU holds one row per confirmation, including cancelled ones flagged in a field.

Cautions for S/4HANA and reporting

Reading directly from tables bypasses authorisation checks, so use it for reporting and extracts only, never for updates. Writing to these tables directly corrupts data; always use BAPIs or standard transactions. In S/4HANA the material number can be 40 characters, and some data now lives in new tables or CDS views, so prefer released CDS views where a stable interface matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which table holds the production order header?

AFKO holds the production order header data such as scheduled dates and the routing number, while AUFK holds the order master data common to all order types, such as order type, plant and status object number. Most reports join the two on AUFNR, or use the view CAUFV.

How do I get components of a production order?

Components are stored as reservations in RESB. Read the reservation number from the order header, then select RESB rows with that RSNUM. The component material is in MATNR, the required quantity in BDMNG and the withdrawn quantity in ENMNG.

Where is the routing used by an order?

The order's operations are copied into AFVC, linked by AUFPL. Changes to the source routing afterwards do not alter the order operations unless the order is rescheduled or redetermined, so always read AFVC for what the order actually runs.

How do I find open orders without technical completion?

Read JEST for the order's object number and exclude active statuses such as TECO (I0045), closed (I0046) and deletion flag (I0076). The ABAP generator on this site builds that NOT EXISTS clause for you.

Netray builds read-only query layers over SAP and other ERP data. If you want plain language questions answered from AFKO, AFPO and RESB without writing joins, we can scope it with you.
