This is a fictional example for training and template use. Replace every field with your own audit evidence. AS9100D requirements and your registrar or customer rules take precedence. Aerospace organizations typically include on-time delivery and quality performance in management review inputs.

Audit evidence from your ERP

Optional: discuss a private on-premises AI that finds audit records across ERP and quality systems.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use the example

Read the filled defaults to see the level of detail an auditor should record, then overwrite each field with your own audit data. Export to PDF or Word and issue it through document control. A good report names the clause, states the requirement paraphrased, describes the evidence seen and is specific enough that someone else could find the same record.

What a good audit finding contains

A defensible finding has three parts: the requirement (clause or procedure), the objective evidence (document, date, ID, record) and the statement of how the evidence fails the requirement. Classify it as a major nonconformity, minor nonconformity or observation using your own procedure. Avoid opinions and avoid naming people; cite records.

  • Requirement: which clause or procedure step
  • Evidence: record number, date, gauge or part ID
  • Gap: the specific shortfall, not a general complaint
  • Containment and corrective action owner with a due date

Management review under AS9100D

Clause 9.3 requires top management to review the QMS at planned intervals. Inputs include status of earlier actions, changes in issues, performance and effectiveness information such as customer satisfaction, audit results, external provider performance, resources and risk actions. Aerospace organizations add on-time delivery and quality performance. Outputs are decisions on improvement, any QMS changes and resource needs, recorded as actions.

Common mistakes

Reports that say procedures are not followed without citing a record are hard to close. Management reviews that recap the audit but record no decision fail the intent of the clause.

  • No objective evidence in the finding
  • Corrective action without root cause or due date
  • Management review inputs missing delivery and external provider data

Frequently Asked Questions

What must an AS9100 internal audit report include?

At minimum the scope, criteria, auditor, date, findings with objective evidence, conclusions and follow-up actions. Your procedure should say who receives it and how findings are tracked to closure.

How is this different from the AS9100 internal audit report template?

This page is a filled example so you can see wording and level of detail, combined with a management review sample. Use it alongside a blank template for your own audits.

How often must management review happen?

At planned intervals defined by the organization. Annual is common, and many aerospace suppliers review more often to track delivery and quality performance.

Is this example acceptable to a registrar as is?

No. It is fictional and for guidance. Your own report must reflect your actual audit evidence and your registrar and customer requirements.

If your audit evidence sits in ERP, calibration and supplier systems, Netray can add a private AI layer on-premises so auditors can pull records quickly without sending data outside. Contact us for a walkthrough.
