Module Fit and Gap Explorer

Infor LN modules: fit and gap explorer

Infor LN is the successor to Baan: a single-instance ERP for discrete manufacturers, organized in packages such as Sales, Procurement, Warehousing, Enterprise Planning, Manufacturing, Project, Service, Quality, Freight, Financials and Common. This explorer lists those packages and modules, the Infor products around them, and scores how they cover your manufacturing requirements. Every fit names the module and the LN session or process behind it, and anything we could not confirm in Infor documentation is marked verify with vendor.

44 modules and products mapped (33 standard, 2 optional, 9 add-on, separate or third party) against 69 manufacturing requirements. Free, no login needed.

Your own requirements

Not in the library? Add it. It is listed in the report and the engineer review, but not scored.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Pick your requirements

Start from a preset such as Engineer-to-order or Multi-plant, or tick requirements one by one. Set each to Must, Should or Nice to have.

  2. 2

    Read the fit

Each requirement shows whether LN covers it in a native package, a separate Infor product, a third-party product, or not at all, with the module name, key sessions and caveats.

  3. 3

    Check the module map

The module map lists the LN packages and modules with what they cover, including Common functions such as Project Pegging, Landed Costs and Global Trade Compliance.

  4. 4

    Compare and export

Compare the same requirement set with another ERP, then download the fit-gap report as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV, or save it to your Netray account.

Infor LN module questions

What modules does Infor LN include?

Infor documents LN in packages: Master Data, CRM, Sales, Project, Enterprise Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Warehousing, Freight, Service, Quality, Financials, Invoicing, Common, Localization, Enterprise Modeler and Tools. Manufacturing contains Engineering Data Management, BOM, Routing, Assembly Planning, Assembly Control, Repetitive Manufacturing, Job Shop Control, Project Control (PCS), the Product Configurator and Tools Requirement Planning.

Is Infor LN the same product as Baan?

Yes, LN is the continuation of Baan. SSA Global bought the Baan unit in 2003 and renamed the software SSA ERP LN, and Infor acquired SSA in 2006. LN still uses Baan concepts such as the bshell, 4GL sessions, BEMIS for EDI and Baan-style package codes such as tdsls and whinh.

Which LN capabilities need a separate Infor product?

Barcode data collection uses Infor Warehouse Mobility, full PLM and CAD integration use Infor PLM for Discrete, and an external WMS connects through the WMS Interface. Infor CPQ Configurator is an integrated alternative to the native Product Configurator. Integration and workflow use Infor OS components such as ION. Check your order form, because packaging differs by deployment.

Does LN have warehouse management built in?

LN Warehousing is broad: zones, locations, warehousing procedures, inbound and outbound advice, handling units, cross-docking, quarantine, kanban, cycle counting and shipments, plus a Freight package for load building. Labor management and 3PL billing are not native, which is where an external WMS connected through the WMS Interface comes in.

Which EDI messages does LN support?

The LN EDI guide lists 810/INVOIC, 820/REMADV (in only), 850/ORDERS, 855/ORDRSP, 856/DESADV, 860/ORDCHG and 865, with ODETTE and VDA equivalents. Schedules travel as Material Release, Shipping Schedule and Sequence Shipping Schedule releases. LN reads and writes BEMIS files, so you still need an EDI translator.

Can LN run process or batch manufacturing?

Infor positions LN for discrete manufacturing: job shop, production cell, kanban, MTS, ATO, MTO, ETO, CTO, assembly lines, mixed-model and hybrid production. We found no formula, potency or batch scaling functions in the LN guides, so treat process manufacturing as a gap and confirm with Infor.

How is the fit score calculated?

Each selected requirement is weighted by priority: Must 3, Should 2, Nice to have 1. A native module scores 100 percent, an add-on from the same vendor 75, a partner product 50 and a gap 0. Items marked verify with vendor count at their stated fit but are listed separately so you can confirm them.

How current is this Infor LN module map?

It follows Infor LN Functions and Features for release 10.7 (published June 2025), the 10.7 user guides and the 2026.x cloud documentation library. Baan IV and Baan V installs lack many of these functions, and cloud and on-premises licenses differ, so treat the map as a starting point for vendor demos, not a contract.

Sources

Based on Infor LN Functions and Features (release 10.7, published June 2025), the LN 10.7 user guides and the Infor LN Documentation Library (Cloud) 2026.x. Older Baan IV and Baan V installs lack many of these functions; packaging and licensing differ between cloud and on-premises, so confirm your license with Infor.
