Module Fit and Gap Explorer
Infor M3 modules: fit and gap explorer
Infor M3, originally Movex from Intentia, is a multi-company, multi-site ERP aimed at process, mixed-mode and distribution-heavy manufacturers such as food and beverage, chemicals, fashion, distribution and equipment. This explorer lists the M3 Business Engine application areas, the M3 add-on products and the Infor products sold around them in the M3 CloudSuites, then scores how each covers your manufacturing requirements. Anything we could not confirm in Infor documentation is marked verify with vendor.
38 modules and products mapped (22 standard, 0 optional, 16 add-on, separate or third party) against 69 manufacturing requirements. Free, no login needed.

Your own requirements
Not in the library? Add it. It is listed in the report and the engineer review, but not scored.
How to use it
- 1
Pick your requirements
Start from a preset such as Multi-plant or Regulated, or tick requirements one by one. Set each to Must, Should or Nice to have.
- 2
Read the fit
Each requirement shows whether M3 Business Engine covers it natively, whether it needs an M3 or Infor add-on such as Scheduling Workbench, Factory Track or M3 Portals, a third-party product, or is a gap, with the program names where we found them.
- 3
Check the module map
The module map lists the M3 BE application areas (Sales Management, Supply Chain Execution, Manufacturing Execution and so on) with their documented sub-modules and how Infor packages each one in the CloudSuite.
- 4
Compare and export
Compare the same requirement set with another ERP, for example Infor LN or SyteLine, then download the fit-gap report as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV, or save it to your Netray account.
M3 module questions
What modules does Infor M3 include?
The M3 Business Engine user library is organized into Application Foundation, Business Controlling, Corporate Management, Financial Accounting, Maintenance Management, Manufacturing Execution, Procurement, Product Data Management, Project Management, Rental Management, Sales Management, Supply Chain Execution and Supply Chain Planning. Related applications include Equipment Quotation Management and the Capacity Planning Workbench.
Is Infor M3 the same product as Movex?
Yes. Infor says M3 was originally called Movex and developed by Intentia in Sweden, then rebranded Lawson M3. Infor acquired Lawson in 2011. Many M3 program names still follow the Movex pattern, such as OIS100 for customer orders and PMS100 for manufacturing orders.
Which M3 capabilities need a separate add-on?
In the multi-tenant CloudSuite, Infor lists Scheduling Workbench, Factory Track, Graphical Lot Tracker and Velocity Suite as recommended add-ons. Cloud add-ons include Supply Chain Planning (Demand Forecasting, Supply Planning), Infor WMS, CPQ, M3 Portals, Mobility for Field Service, M3 CLM and Infor MES. Check your order form, because on-premises packaging differs.
Does M3 have finite capacity scheduling?
M3 Business Engine has Capacity Requirements Planning, rough-cut capacity, work center scheduling and the Capacity Planning Workbench. Finite scheduling with sequence optimization is M3 Scheduling Workbench (SWB), a separate add-on that synchronizes material flow and capacity across facilities.
How does M3 handle quality?
Quality Management System (QMS), part of Manufacturing Execution, manages tests, specifications and QI requests triggered by receipts, manufacturing orders, distribution orders and returns, with lot status approval and certificates of analysis. Procurement adds receiving inspection and statistical quality inspection with sample tables. We found no SPC control charts.
Is M3 a good fit for discrete or engineer-to-order manufacturers?
M3 is strongest in process, mixed-mode, distribution and equipment businesses: catch weight, attributes, potency, lot shelf life and rental and service. It does support manufacturing orders, configurators and projects, but test project-driven ETO flows and kanban in a demo, and compare with Infor LN or SyteLine.
How is the fit score calculated?
Each selected requirement is weighted by priority: Must 3, Should 2, Nice to have 1. A native module scores 100 percent, an add-on from the same vendor 75, a partner product 50 and a gap 0. Items marked verify with vendor count at their stated fit but are listed separately so you can confirm them.
How current is this M3 module map?
It follows the M3 Business Engine User Library (Cloud) 2026.10 and the current multi-tenant M3 CloudSuite solution overview. Infor ships frequent cloud updates and on-premises M3 13.x licenses differ, so treat the map as a starting point for vendor demos, not a contract.
