Module Fit and Gap Explorer
SAP ECC modules: fit and gap explorer
SAP ECC 6.0 (SAP ERP Central Component) is the on-premises core of SAP ERP 6.0, organized into application components such as SD, MM, PP, QM, PM, CS, PS, FI and CO, extended through enhancement packages up to EHP8. This explorer maps those components, plus the SAP Business Suite products that usually sit beside ECC (APO, EWM, GTS), to your manufacturing requirements. Mainstream maintenance for EHP6 to EHP8 ends on December 31, 2027, so the map also helps you see what a move to SAP S/4HANA or another ERP has to replace.
40 modules and products mapped (28 standard, 0 optional, 12 add-on, separate or third party) against 69 manufacturing requirements. Free, no login needed.

Your own requirements
Not in the library? Add it. It is listed in the report and the engineer review, but not scored.
How to use it
- 1
Pick your requirements
Start from a preset such as Repetitive / automotive supplier or Regulated, or tick requirements one by one. Set each to Must, Should or Nice to have.
- 2
Read the fit
Each requirement shows whether ECC covers it in a core component, a separate SAP product such as APO, EWM or GTS, a third-party product, or not at all, with the component and transactions involved.
- 3
Check the module map
The module map lists the ECC application components with their SAP codes, main transactions and sub-functions, and flags the SAP add-on products separately.
- 4
Compare and export
Compare the same requirement set with SAP S/4HANA or another ERP, then download the fit-gap report as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV, or save it to your Netray account.
SAP ECC module questions
What modules does SAP ECC include?
SAP ECC 6.0 is organized into application components: Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP, including PP-PI, PP-REM and KANBAN), Quality Management (QM), Plant Maintenance (PM), Customer Service (CS), Project System (PS), Logistics Execution and Warehouse Management (LE, LE-WM), Financial Accounting (FI), Asset Accounting (FI-AA), Controlling (CO), Human Capital Management (HCM), plus cross-application components such as Variant Configuration, Engineering Change Management and the Document Management System.
What is the difference between SAP ECC and SAP ERP?
SAP ERP 6.0 is the product; SAP ECC 6.0 (ERP Central Component) is its central application, which replaced R/3 Enterprise. SAP ERP is one part of the SAP Business Suite, which also includes SAP SCM (APO), SAP CRM, SAP SRM and SAP PLM.
Which capabilities need a separate SAP product next to ECC?
Optimization-based planning, demand planning, supply network planning and global ATP are SAP APO. Advanced warehousing (slotting, labor management, yard) is SAP EWM. Export control and sanctioned party screening are SAP GTS. IFRS 15 and ASC 606 contract accounting is SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting. Machine OEE dashboards come from SAP MII, SAP ME or a third-party MES.
When does SAP ECC maintenance end?
Mainstream maintenance for SAP ERP 6.0 EHP6, EHP7 and EHP8 ends on December 31, 2027. SAP offers optional extended maintenance to December 31, 2030 for an extra fee on the maintenance base. EHP0 to EHP5 left mainstream maintenance at the end of 2025. After that, customer-specific maintenance applies, with no new legal changes or support packages.
Does SAP ECC support EDI?
Yes, through IDocs. Common message types are ORDERS, ORDCHG and DELINS inbound for sales, and ORDRSP, DESADV and INVOIC outbound, with matching messages for purchasing. ECC does not translate to ANSI X12 or EDIFACT itself, so you need an EDI subsystem, a VAN service or SAP PI/PO.
Is SAP WM still an option in ECC?
LE-WM is part of ECC and covers bins, strategies, transfer orders, wave picks and RF transactions. SAP positions EWM as the successor for advanced warehousing, and S/4HANA moves new warehouse work to EWM. If you plan to stay on ECC, WM works; if you plan to move to S/4HANA, check the WM status in the S/4HANA simplification list.
How is the fit score calculated?
Each selected requirement is weighted by priority: Must 3, Should 2, Nice to have 1. A native component scores 100 percent, an add-on from the same vendor 75, a partner product 50 and a gap 0. Items marked verify with vendor count at their stated fit but are listed separately so you can confirm them.
How should I use this map for a move off ECC?
Score your requirements against SAP ECC, then compare with SAP S/4HANA or another ERP. Requirements met today by APO, EWM, GTS or custom ABAP are the ones to check first, because their successor products and data models differ.

Mainstream maintenance for EHP6 to EHP8 ends December 31, 2027, with optional extended maintenance to December 31, 2030; EHP0 to EHP5 left mainstream maintenance at the end of 2025. License scope depends on your SAP contract.
