Infor LN and Baan implementation partner scorecard
Compare up to five Infor LN (or Baan IV and Baan 5) partners or consultants on weighted criteria and see the ranking update as you score. The interview bank tests what separates LN specialists from generalists: multicompany design with logistic and financial companies, the Dynamic Enterprise Modeler, integration mapping, Enterprise Planning, 4GL and DAL scripting, VRCs and package combinations, PMC, the Component Merge Tool and LN Extensibility.
Neutral by design: this tool does not name, rank or recommend any consulting firm. You add the candidates.
Step 1: Add the candidates
Up to 5 partners or individual consultants.
No candidates yet. Add the partners on your shortlist, or start with placeholders and rename them later.
Step 2: Set the weights
0 ignores a criterion, 5 makes it critical. Share shows its part of the total.
Step 3: Score each candidate
1 poor, 3 adequate, 5 excellent. Use the arrow keys inside a score row.
Add a candidate in step 1 to start scoring.
Step 4: Weighted ranking
Scores are normalized to 100 over the criteria you have scored.
The ranking appears here once you add candidates and score them.
Want a second opinion before you sign? An engineer who works on LN will read your scorecard and reply with what to probe further.
LN interview question bank
28 questions by role, each with what a strong answer covers. Add questions to your interview pack; it is included in the export.
Red flags in LN partner evaluations
Senior people in the sales meeting, unnamed juniors on the proposal
The team you interview should be the team you get. Ask for a key-person clause.
No LN-specific answers on company structure, integration mapping or DAL
Generalist ERP consultants learn the product on your budget.
Plans direct SQL inserts or table edits to load or fix data
Bypasses DAL business logic and is not available in LN cloud.
Customizes components in the standard VRC
Customer changes belong in a separate customization VRC or in Extensibility, or patches will overwrite them.
Says customizations upgrade automatically
The Component Merge Tool needs review of every merged script and does not cover report scripts.
Plans source code changes for an LN cloud tenant
LN cloud is extended with CDFs, the Extension Modeler, LN Studio and the Report Designer, stored in the tx package.
No early decision on logistic and financial company structure
Company and enterprise unit design drives finance, intercompany and reporting and is hard to change later.
References only from other Infor products or more than a few years old
LN releases, tools and the cloud model change. Recent, same-product references matter.
Low fixed fee with broad exclusions
Exclusions such as data, reports, interfaces and extensions usually return as change orders.
Data migration is entirely the customer's job
Load tools, mapping and rehearsals need product knowledge from the partner.
No cutover rehearsal in the plan
The first full data load should never be the go-live.
Certifications claimed for the firm but not the named people
Ask for each consultant's certification name, version and date and verify it.
Unverifiable claims of exclusive status or guaranteed timelines
Ask for written evidence. Real partners describe risks, not guarantees.
How to use the LN partner scorecard
- 1
Add the candidates
Enter up to five partners or individual consultants from your shortlist. Nothing leaves your browser unless you save or ask for a review.
- 2
Set the weights
Weight each criterion from 0 (ignore) to 5 (critical). A Baan IV or Baan 5 migration with years of customer VRC code should weight product depth and on-prem experience higher than a new LN cloud deployment would.
- 3
Interview with the question bank
Pick questions by role. Ask functional questions to the solution architect, technical questions to the developer who will maintain your scripts or extensions, and project-lead questions to the named project manager, not the sales lead.
- 4
Score each candidate 1 to 5
Score against the evidence notes for each criterion and tick any red flags you heard. The weighted ranking and chart update instantly.
- 5
Export or save
Download the scorecard as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV for your selection committee, or save it to your Netray account to continue later.
Questions
What should an Infor LN implementation partner be able to show me?
A named team with LN-specific experience per package, a project plan with company design, conference room pilots, test cycles and cutover rehearsals, sample deliverables from a past LN project, and recent references on a similar release and deployment model. They should also explain how they handle customer VRC code or extensions through patches and upgrades.
Is Baan the same product as Infor LN?
LN is the successor of Baan. Infor documentation still refers to Baan IV and Baan 5 as earlier versions, for example in the guide for converting Enterprise Modeler models to later LN versions. Moving from Baan IV or Baan 5 to current LN is usually run as a re-implementation with data migration. Verify the support status of your Baan release with Infor.
How are LN customizations handled in the cloud?
Infor documents customer-defined fields, the LN Extension Modeler, LN Studio and the LN Report Designer as the extensibility tools. Extensions are stored in the Extensions (tx) package, separate from the standard code. A partner moving you from on-prem should inventory every customer VRC component and map each to an extension, standard functionality or removal.
Does the Component Merge Tool carry all my customizations to a new release?
No. Infor documents CMT for moving customizations such as scripts, forms, menus and sessions to a new release with a derived-from structure, and notes it does not apply to report scripts. Each merged component still needs review and retest.
Which Infor certifications should LN consultants have?
Infor publishes exam guides for LN tracks, including Logistics, Manufacturing and Planning, Finance and an associate level. Ask for the certification name, version and date for each named consultant and verify it. Certification shows product training; references and interviews show delivery skill.
Should I hire a partner firm or an independent LN consultant?
A firm can staff several packages, cover holidays and absorb turnover, while an independent consultant can be more senior per hour but is a single point of failure. LN projects usually need separate logistics, manufacturing, finance and technical coverage, so score each candidate on which of those they can actually staff.
How should I weight the criteria?
Start from the preset closest to your project. Baan or old LN migrations should weight product depth, team continuity and on-prem experience highest. New cloud deployments should weight industry fit, methodology and support higher. Set a criterion to 0 if it does not matter to you.
Is my data stored anywhere?
The scorecard runs in your browser. It is only stored if you choose to save it to your Netray account, and only sent to us if you ask an engineer to review it.
