Oracle E-Business Suite implementation partner scorecard

Compare up to five Oracle E-Business Suite partners or consultants on weighted criteria and see the ranking update as you score. The interview bank tests what separates EBS 12.2 specialists from generalists: adop online patching and editioning rules for custom code, concurrent programs and request sets, Forms and OA Framework personalizations, the CUSTOM library, MOAC, Subledger Accounting and Integrated SOA Gateway.

Neutral by design: this tool does not name, rank or recommend any consulting firm. You add the candidates.

Step 1: Add the candidates

Up to 5 partners or individual consultants.

No candidates yet. Add the partners on your shortlist, or start with placeholders and rename them later.

Step 2: Set the weights

0 ignores a criterion, 5 makes it critical. Share shows its part of the total.

Step 4: Weighted ranking

Scores are normalized to 100 over the criteria you have scored.

Red flags in EBS partner evaluations

  • Senior people in the sales meeting, unnamed juniors on the proposal

The team you interview should be the team you get. Ask for a key-person clause.

  • No 12.2-specific answers on adop, editioning or the custom synchronization driver

12.1 habits break online patching. Generalists learn 12.2 on your budget.

  • Plans direct SQL inserts or updates on base tables to load or fix data

Bypasses validation in open interfaces and APIs, and Oracle does not support altering Application Object Library data outside its forms, programs and APIs.

  • Proposes changing seeded Oracle forms, packages or reports in place

Oracle states customizations by modification are not supported and are often not preserved by upgrades and patches.

  • Makes changes on the run file system or run edition during a patching cycle

Changes made there are lost at cutover unless they are synchronized.

  • References only from Fusion Cloud projects or more than a few years old

EBS 12.2 delivery and patching skills differ from Fusion Cloud. Recent, same-product references matter.

  • Low fixed fee with broad exclusions

Exclusions such as conversions, reports, interfaces and custom code remediation usually return as change orders.

  • No cutover rehearsal in the plan

The first full data load should never be the go-live.

  • Certifications claimed for the firm but not the named people

Ask for each consultant's credential name and date. Several older EBS exams are retired, so check what is current.

  • Custom code and patching excluded from post go-live support

Someone must own the extensions they built and run each adop cycle.

  • Pushes a move to Fusion Cloud or a stay on EBS before understanding your situation

The roadmap decision depends on your custom code, modules and timeline, not on what the partner sells.

  • Unverifiable claims of exclusive status or guaranteed timelines

Ask for written evidence. Real partners describe risks, not guarantees.

How to use the EBS partner scorecard

  1. 1

    Add the candidates

Enter up to five partners or individual consultants. Use the names you have in your shortlist; nothing leaves your browser unless you save or ask for a review.

  2. 2

    Set the weights

Weight each criterion from 0 (ignore) to 5 (critical). A 12.1 to 12.2 upgrade with a large custom code estate should weight product depth and on-prem experience higher than a support-only contract would.

  3. 3

    Interview with the question bank

Pick questions by role. Ask functional questions to the module leads (financials, supply chain), technical questions to the developer or Apps DBA who will touch your custom code and patching, and project-lead questions to the named project manager, not the sales lead.

  4. 4

Score each candidate 1 to 5

Score against the evidence notes for each criterion and tick any red flags you heard. The weighted ranking and chart update instantly.

  5. 5

    Export or save

Download the scorecard as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV for your selection committee, or save it to your Netray account to continue later.

Questions

What should an Oracle EBS implementation partner be able to show me?

A named team with EBS 12.2 experience in your modules, a project plan with conference room pilots, test cycles and cutover rehearsals, sample deliverables from a past EBS project, and recent references with a similar footprint. They should also explain how they keep custom code compliant with online patching standards and how they run adop cycles.

Why does 12.2 online patching matter when choosing a partner?

In 12.2, patches are applied with adop to a patch edition and patch file system while users work, and only cutover takes downtime. Custom database objects must follow the online patching development standards (My Oracle Support document 1577661.1), and custom files may need entries in the custom synchronization driver. A partner without 12.2 experience can build code that fails the standards checker or is lost at cutover.

How long will Oracle support EBS 12.2?

Oracle announced Premier Support for E-Business Suite 12.2 through at least 2036, its support pages now cite at least 2037 for on-premises Continuous Innovation releases, and it has extended the date in past years. Confirm the current date and the latest 12.2.x update with Oracle or My Oracle Support before you plan.

What is the difference between a functional and a technical EBS consultant?

A functional consultant designs setups and processes in modules such as General Ledger, Payables, Inventory or Order Management. A technical consultant builds and maintains extensions, interfaces, reports and concurrent programs. An Apps DBA runs patching, cloning and the technology stack. Most projects need all three, so interview each role separately.

Which Oracle certifications should EBS consultants have?

Oracle PartnerNetwork notes that the older EBS Implementation Specialist exams have been retired, so many experienced consultants hold credentials that are no longer offered. Ask for each credential name and date, verify current options with Oracle University, and weight references and interviews above certificates.

Should I hire a partner firm or an independent EBS consultant?

A firm can staff functional, technical and DBA roles, cover holidays and absorb turnover, while an independent consultant can be more senior per hour but is a single point of failure. Score both on the same criteria. For an upgrade or new rollout, most companies need functional, technical, DBA and project-lead coverage.

How should I weight the criteria?

Start from the preset closest to your project. Upgrades with a large custom code estate should weight product depth, team continuity and on-prem experience highest. New module rollouts should weight industry fit and methodology higher. Set a criterion to 0 if it does not matter to you.

Is my data stored anywhere?

The scorecard runs in your browser. It is only stored if you choose to save it to your Netray account, and only sent to us if you ask an engineer to review it.
