Epicor Kinetic (Epicor ERP) implementation partner scorecard
Compare up to five Epicor Kinetic partners or consultants on weighted criteria and see the ranking update as you score. The interview bank tests what separates Kinetic specialists from generalists: BPMs, BAQs and Epicor Functions, Application Studio and the move off the classic Smart Client, UD fields and the UD Service Designer, the OData REST API, the cloud update cadence and how they carry Epicor ERP 10 customizations forward.
Neutral by design: this tool does not name, rank or recommend any consulting firm. You add the candidates.
Step 1: Add the candidates
Up to 5 partners or individual consultants.
No candidates yet. Add the partners on your shortlist, or start with placeholders and rename them later.
Step 2: Set the weights
0 ignores a criterion, 5 makes it critical. Share shows its part of the total.
Step 3: Score each candidate
1 poor, 3 adequate, 5 excellent. Use the arrow keys inside a score row.
Add a candidate in step 1 to start scoring.
Step 4: Weighted ranking
Scores are normalized to 100 over the criteria you have scored.
The ranking appears here once you add candidates and score them.

26 questions by role, each with what a strong answer covers. Add questions to your interview pack; it is included in the export.
Red flags in Kinetic partner evaluations
Senior people in the sales meeting, unnamed juniors on the proposal
The team you interview should be the team you get. Ask for a key-person clause.
No Kinetic-specific answers on BPMs, BAQs, Functions or Application Studio
Generalist ERP consultants learn the product on your budget.
Plans new classic Smart Client customizations
Epicor replaced the Smart Client with browser forms in 2026.1; new work belongs in Application Studio.
Plans direct SQL inserts or table edits to load or fix data
Bypasses business logic. Use the import tools, services and REST API.
Says customizations carry through updates automatically
With monthly updates, every BPM, Function, layer and interface needs a regression test plan.
References only from other Epicor products or more than a few years old
Kinetic, its tools and the cloud model change. Recent, same-product references matter.
Proposes every bundle and a large concurrent user count without analysis
Bundles and users should be tied to requirements and real usage patterns.
Low fixed fee with broad exclusions
Exclusions such as data, reports and interfaces usually return as change orders.
No cutover rehearsal in the plan
The first full data load should never be the go-live.
Partner status or certifications claimed but not verifiable
Check the firm in the Epicor Find a Partner directory and ask for each consultant's certification name and date.
Customizations excluded from post go-live support
Someone must own the BPMs, Functions and layers they built.
Unverifiable claims of exclusive status or guaranteed timelines
Ask for written evidence. Real partners describe risks, not guarantees.
How to use the Kinetic partner scorecard
- 1
Add the candidates
Enter up to five partners or individual consultants from your shortlist. Nothing leaves your browser unless you save or ask for a review.
- 2
Pick a preset and set the weights
Weight each criterion from 0 (ignore) to 5 (critical). An upgrade from a customized Epicor ERP 10 site should weight product depth, customization uplift and on-prem experience higher than a new cloud deployment on a Kinetic bundle would.
- 3
Interview with the question bank
Ask functional questions to the solution consultant, technical questions to the developer who will build your BPMs, BAQs, Functions and Application Studio layers, and project-lead questions to the named project manager, not the sales lead.
- 4
Score each candidate 1 to 5
Score against the evidence notes for each criterion and tick any red flags you heard. The weighted ranking and chart update instantly.
- 5
Export or save
Download the scorecard as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV for your steering committee, or save it to your Netray account to continue later.
Questions
What is Epicor Kinetic, and is it the same as Epicor ERP 10?
Kinetic is the current name of Epicor's manufacturing ERP, which Epicor describes as the new name for Epicor ERP. Many sites still run Epicor ERP 10. Kinetic releases are numbered by year (for example 2024.2, 2025.2 and 2026.100). Ask each candidate which Epicor ERP 10 versions and Kinetic releases they have delivered.
What does Epicor do, and where does Kinetic fit?
Epicor sells industry ERP and related applications for manufacturing, distribution, building supply, automotive and retail. Kinetic is its ERP for manufacturers, specialized for discrete and make-to-order work, offered as cloud on Microsoft Azure with options for on-premises and hybrid deployments. Other Epicor ERPs such as Prophet 21 and Eclipse are separate products, so check that references are on Kinetic.
How do Epicor customizations work in Kinetic?
Epicor positions Application Studio for screens, BPM for rules before and after transactions, BAQs for queries, UD fields and the UD Service Designer for extra data, Epicor Functions for reusable server-side logic and the OData REST API for integration. The classic Smart Client was replaced by browser forms in 2026.1, so Epicor ERP 10 screen customizations need to be rebuilt or retired.
How often is Kinetic updated?
Epicor states that starting with the May 2026 release (2026.100) Kinetic moved from a semi-annual model to a monthly CI/CD cadence. Your partner needs a regression test plan for every customization, run before each update. Confirm upgrade deferral options for your cloud package with Epicor.
Does Epicor certify partners and consultants?
Epicor lists Authorized Partners in its Find a Partner directory and describes Epicor Certified Partners as authorized partners whose teams maintain a required number of Epicor product certifications, renewed annually. Ask for each named consultant's certification and date and verify it with the partner or Epicor.
What Epicor training is available, and what is the Epicor Learning Center?
The Epicor Learning Center is Epicor's portal for courses, learning paths and videos, with the Help and Support Panel and an AI Knowledge Agent inside the application. Epicor says essential courses are available at no cost and full access gives the entire catalog, and instructor-led training is delivered by Epicor Professional Services. Your partner should still train users on your configured processes.
How should I weight the criteria?
Start from the preset closest to your project. Epicor ERP 10 upgrades should weight product depth, team continuity and on-prem experience highest. New cloud deployments should weight industry fit, methodology and support higher. Set a criterion to 0 if it does not matter to you.
Is my data stored anywhere?
The scorecard runs in your browser. It is only stored if you choose to save it to your Netray account, and only sent to us if you ask an engineer to review it.
