Infor M3 implementation partner scorecard
Compare up to five Infor M3 partners or consultants on weighted criteria and see the ranking update as you score. The interview bank tests what separates M3 specialists from generalists: M3 API (MI) programs and custom list APIs, XtendM3 extensions and their approval process, MAK modifications on-prem, Enterprise Collaborator (MEC) agreements and mappings, H5 scripts and Experience Designer, Event Analytics and the Data Lake Publisher.
Neutral by design: this tool does not name, rank or recommend any consulting firm. You add the candidates.
Step 1: Add the candidates
Up to 5 partners or individual consultants.
No candidates yet. Add the partners on your shortlist, or start with placeholders and rename them later.
Step 2: Set the weights
0 ignores a criterion, 5 makes it critical. Share shows its part of the total.
Step 3: Score each candidate
1 poor, 3 adequate, 5 excellent. Use the arrow keys inside a score row.
Add a candidate in step 1 to start scoring.
Step 4: Weighted ranking
Scores are normalized to 100 over the criteria you have scored.
The ranking appears here once you add candidates and score them.

M3 interview question bank
29 questions by role, each with what a strong answer covers. Add questions to your interview pack; it is included in the export.
Red flags in M3 partner evaluations
Senior people in the sales meeting, unnamed juniors on the proposal
The team you interview should be the team you get. Ask for a key-person clause.
No M3-specific answers on MI programs, XtendM3 or MEC
Generalist ERP consultants learn the product on your budget.
Plans direct SQL inserts or table reads to load, fix or extract data
Bypasses M3 business logic, and is not available in multi-tenant M3 CloudSuite. Use MI transactions or the Data Lake.
Says MAK modifications move to the cloud as they are
Java changes to the M3 Business Engine are not possible in CloudSuite. Each one needs a new design or removal.
No plan or budget for XtendM3 approval reviews
Extensions need Infor's approval process before production, and review time is billed.
Extension designs ignore XtendM3 timeouts and read limits
Triggers have about five seconds and a 10,000-record read limit applies, so heavy logic belongs elsewhere.
References only from other Infor products or more than a few years old
M3 versions, tools and the cloud model change. Recent, same-product references matter.
Low fixed fee with broad exclusions
Exclusions such as data, reports and integrations usually return as change orders.
No cutover rehearsal in the plan
The first full data load should never be the go-live.
Certifications claimed for the firm but not the named people
Ask for each consultant's certification name, version and date and verify it.
Partner keeps extension and script source in its own systems only
Infor expects XtendM3 repositories to be owned or managed by the customer. You need the source.
Unverifiable claims of exclusive status or guaranteed timelines
Ask for written evidence. Real partners describe risks, not guarantees.
How to use the M3 partner scorecard
- 1
Add the candidates
Enter up to five partners or individual consultants from your shortlist. Nothing leaves your browser unless you save or ask for a review.
- 2
Set the weights
Weight each criterion from 0 (ignore) to 5 (critical). A move from an older on-prem M3 with MAK modifications to M3 CloudSuite should weight product depth and on-prem experience higher than a new multi-tenant deployment would.
- 3
Interview with the question bank
Pick questions by role. Ask functional questions to the solution consultant, technical questions to the developer who will write your XtendM3 extensions, MEC mappings and H5 scripts, and project-lead questions to the named project manager.
- 4
Score each candidate 1 to 5
Score against the evidence notes for each criterion and tick any red flags you heard. The weighted ranking and chart update instantly.
- 5
Export or save
Download the scorecard as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV for your selection committee, or save it to your Netray account to continue later.
Questions
What should an Infor M3 implementation partner be able to show me?
A named team with M3-specific experience, a project plan with conference room pilots, test cycles and cutover rehearsals, sample deliverables from a past M3 project, and recent references on a similar version and deployment model. They should also explain how they decide between personalization, configurable fields, XtendM3 and external apps, and how they support MEC mappings and extensions after go-live.
Is Infor M3 the same product as Movex?
Yes. Infor states that M3 was originally called Movex and was developed by the Swedish company Intentia. After a merger with Lawson it was rebranded Lawson M3, and Infor acquired Lawson in 2011. Ask candidates which M3 versions they have delivered and whether on-prem or in M3 CloudSuite.
What can a partner customize in multi-tenant M3 CloudSuite?
Infor's principle is that extending M3 does not change M3 source code. Options include H5 personalizations and scripts, configurable fields, Event Analytics rules, M3 APIs, Experience Designer, H5 SDK apps, Mongoose and XtendM3 for business logic changes. XtendM3 has limits: it cannot add fields to standard tables or call M3 programs directly, and extensions need Infor approval before production.
What happens to our MAK modifications if we move to the cloud?
MAK changes the M3 Business Engine Java source and is an on-prem tool. Java modifications are not possible in M3 CloudSuite, so each modification must be redesigned with supported tools or removed. A good partner starts with a full inventory and estimates each item.
Which Infor certifications should M3 consultants have?
Infor publishes exam guides for M3 tracks, including manufacturing and planning, sales management and logistics, warehousing and procurement, finance, installation, developer and integration, each tied to a version. Ask for the certification name, version and date for each named consultant. XtendM3 developers also need Infor's XtendM3 training before approval reviews.
Should I hire a partner firm or an independent M3 consultant?
A firm can staff several roles, cover holidays and absorb turnover, while an independent consultant can be more senior per hour but is a single point of failure. Score both on the same criteria. A full M3 implementation usually needs functional, technical (APIs, MEC, extensions) and project-lead coverage.
How should I weight the criteria?
Start from the preset closest to your project. Moves from modified on-prem M3 to CloudSuite should weight product depth, team continuity and on-prem experience highest. New multi-tenant deployments should weight industry fit, methodology and support higher. Set a criterion to 0 if it does not matter to you.
Is my data stored anywhere?
The scorecard runs in your browser. It is only stored if you choose to save it to your Netray account, and only sent to us if you ask an engineer to review it.
