IDoc failure pattern report

Share anonymised ticket history and receive a short summary of repeat root causes.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to fill the ticket

Open the IDoc in WE02 or WE05 and copy the IDoc number, message type and partner from the control record. Take the status and the text of the latest status record, because the first error is often more informative than the last. Describe business impact in terms the order desk or plant would recognise, such as how many documents are blocked. Record the root cause separately from the fix: reprocessing an IDoc is a fix, but a missing master data extension is the cause. Export the finished ticket to PDF or Word and attach it to your service desk record.

  • Copy the exact error text and message class
  • Note how many IDocs share the same error
  • Separate root cause from workaround

Reading the status

The status tells you which stage failed. For inbound IDocs, 51 means the application rejected the data, 56 means the IDoc was received with errors in the control record or partner setup, and 64 means it is waiting for processing. For outbound IDocs, 02 means the data could not be handed to the port, 29 points to an ALE service error and 30 means ready for dispatch. Treat 51 as a data or configuration issue for the business, and 02 or 29 as a technical issue for Basis or the integration team.

Closing the loop

A ticket is only useful if the prevention table is filled. Typical actions include a master data validation before go-live, an alert on aging IDocs in a failure status, or a clearer error message in a custom inbound function module. Review closed tickets monthly: if three tickets name the same root cause, the problem is the process, not the IDoc. Link the ticket to the interface ID from your inventory so patterns across interfaces become visible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which transaction shows IDoc errors?

WE02 and WE05 list IDocs with their status and status records. BD87 is the status monitor used to select failed IDocs and reprocess them in bulk. The underlying tables are EDIDC for control records and EDIDS for status records.

What does status 51 mean?

Status 51 means the inbound IDoc reached the application but the document could not be posted. The error text usually names a missing master record, a closed posting period or an authorization problem.

Can I reprocess IDocs without fixing the root cause?

You can, but the IDoc will fail again with the same error. Fix the data or configuration first, then reprocess using BD87 or program RBDMANI2 for failed inbound documents.

Should every IDoc failure get a ticket?

Not necessarily. Group failures with the same cause into a single ticket and list the count. Create separate tickets only when causes or owners differ.

Netray can set up read-only monitoring over IDoc tables so repeated failures are grouped by root cause without manual searching.
